# Firebase Studio & Gemini 2.5 Pro: API Key Usage Costs for Coding Agent

Hi!  
If I connect my API key in Fairase Studio IDE settings and use Gemini 2.5 Pro within the internal Fairase Studio chat as a coding agent instead of the Prototype Agent, will the API token usage be charged at the standard API rate?

I’m referring to using the API key for the internal Fairase Studio coding agent, not for a developed application. To select Gemini 2.5 Pro as the coding agent, Fairase Studio asks for my own API key.

I believe I saw information somewhere about a separate developer rate within Fairase Studio, but I can’t find it now.

It depends on where you get your API key, like whether you got a free tier API key from Google AI Studio, or one associated with a Google Cloud project (which has a billing account attached).
