This are great data points. There are a few paths we have identified to give you all more storage, so stay tuned while we prototype out some of these ideas.
@kirupa thank you a bunch for looking into this!
50GB should be plenty per workspace. Iām trying to debug a docker container and canāt even finish pulling them:
write /home/user/.local/share/docker/tmp/GetImageBlob504988300: no space left on device
(had to move to another IDE setup). please let us know when this becomes available!
same here, I am trying to install āunslothā which depends on ātorchā which is already too big to install properly.
this ends my test of IDX prematurelyā¦
My repository contains several subtrees and exceeds the available storage.
I also need this for fullstack node.js development.
We totally hear you and are working on a solution to give everyone extra space. There are some logistics we need to resolve, but this is top of mind for us.
+1 to this , I believe 50GB is more than enough!
Thank you for looking into that. Iām using IDX for everything now, way better than manage developer env locally.
We are testing 100GB of storage right now. Hopefully weāll be able to roll out globally beyond us-east and us-west in the very near future.
How can we test from those servers if based in London?
Ah! I wonder if you can VPN to a US-based server and test it out.
We are working out our plan to roll this out worldwide, so hopefully in a week or so, it will be available across all of our supported regions.
Looking forward for the update!
Please notify also on this thread when the change is available worldwide
Hey @kirupa, any updates on the global rollout of 100GB storage? Many open-source projects require more space for contributions, especially with Gitpod shutting down soon.
@Jagjeevan_Kashid - it should be rolled out globally. What country/region are you trying to access IDX from?
Hey @kirupa,
I am using IDX from India. As I am trying to setup Open Source Project for GSoC contribution then while building the project it is failing due to storage issue.
Also Gitpod Classic is also shutting soon for developers.
Iām still seeing 9.8GB home folder from Sydney, Australia
Thanks @debanjanbasu and @Jagjeevan_Kashid! Weāll look into what is going on.
Thanks @kirupa for looking into this. Do we have an eta for when it would be resolved ?
I saw in some linux distros they have files that are big and unecessary like , virtual ram file ( may be a .img or others ) we can free a Gig or more if there are such things inworkspace , but how do i explore the file system without access to file manager , Can you give the info of what OS is used in the workspace is it nix os ?
Is it out now ?
@kirupa
Still getting only 5.3GB out of box , stopped using firebase studio for this reason , its not even enough for a project
