Feature Request: Database + Gemini

I have a feature proposal that I believe would greatly enhance your new database templates. The idea involves integrating Gemini with the ability to read database content based on a schema.

Here’s a concrete outline of the concept:

  1. Integration with Database: Connect Gemini to a database, such as MySQL, using specific parameters.
  2. Schema Extraction: Gemini would extract the schema from the connected database.
  3. Natural Language Queries: Based on the database schema, users can interact with Gemini in a chat interface. Gemini would then convert natural language queries into SQL queries.
  4. Results Presentation: The results of the SQL queries would be presented back in the chat interface.

This feature would enable users to seamlessly interact with their databases through natural language, making data retrieval more intuitive and efficient.

I believe this addition could be highly valuable, particularly for users managing complex database systems and looking for a more user-friendly way to query their data.

Langchain has everything you mentioned SQL Database | 🦜️🔗 LangChain
Gemini API also free as well.

I actually have a template in the works that does something like this. It’s not a fully fledged library or VSIX extension but I’ll release it soon and I’d love to get your feedback.
