I’m experiencing a confusing issue with Firebase Studio’s Flutter project limits on the free tier and hoping someone can clarify.
According to the official documentation, free tier users can create up to 10 projects total. I currently have only 3 projects in total:
2 projects I own
1 shared project I’m participating in
The issue: When I try to create a new project using other templates (like Go), it works fine. However, when I attempt to create a Flutter project, I get this error:
“You’ve reached the limit for Flutter workspaces or delete an existing Flutter workspace”
Current situation:
Total projects: 3/10 (well within the general limit)
Flutter projects I own: 2
Other project types work fine for creation
Questions:
Is there a hidden limit of only 2 Flutter projects per free tier user?
Why can I create other types of projects but not Flutter ones?
Is this documented anywhere, or is it a bug?
This seems like an undocumented Flutter-specific limitation that contradicts the general 10-project limit mentioned in the docs.
Has anyone else encountered this? Any workarounds or explanations would be greatly appreciated!
@jamesor may be able to provide more details on the future of the Flutter/Android integration. I’d definitely keep an eye on the Firebase Status Dashboard in the meantime. Firebase Status Dashboard
To ensure a smooth rollout, free users are limited to one new AI-optimized Flutter or React Native + Expo workspace at a time. To get more workspaces, upgrade to GDP premium.
