Tired of prototyper coding without you wanting them to? or apologizing over and over? try this

i put a small prompt at the beginning of every message and it really helps, one because i ask a question and the prototyper begins coding immediately rather then jsut answering me allowing me to think and come up with a solution, and the other annoying thing is it telling me im frustrated or apologizing ALOT i keep it on my clipboard and past it before every message it says

“Explain reasoning first, no code yet. I’ll affirm or deny before you proceed, Do not apologize or tell me im frustrated it slows down the coding process.”

feel free to use it, it actually works amazingly well

I use this: Answer only, no actions yet

I use: Answer, please, no changes yet. And it worked 79% of the time, while the remaining, the AI will still go ahead and apologise for the frustration, taking time instead of actually writing code to fix the issue.

yeah HAHA but at the end of the day its about tokens people keep asking why their copilot is degrating the conversation history gets too long for any good reasoning. it took me 3 copolots and i had to keep injecting my privious code into the new code to get my app ready for production LOL happy coding! and i hope your app is all you wished it would be

i love this the fewer token the better i also use something similar to this “just answer no code” when it isnt apologizing just to save on some tokens haha

they should add an option to desactivate code change, and stay in chat mode only.

Better yet, create a file in the root directory called

> GEMINI.md

put your rules of engagement in that file. This is your control for custom rules you want the AI to follow every time. This is good for keeping the bot informed on important areas locations and even correcting persistent issues the AI continuously does.

You can also set your AI to be on AGENT and not auto.

This will prevent any unwanted writes or it doing something to a file you don’t want as it will prompt you with a change request where you can look at the code it is trying to write, you can then either deny the change or accept the change. The AI will prompt your like this

If you press update or create it will make the file, and if you press “Review Changes” it will show you the code it is changing, this is important to review as it WILL try to make some pretty horrible mistakes like deleting all the existing content and writing only the new content. This obviously is not what you want so if it tries that, simply do not clikc the update/create button and reply, "I did not make that last change you presented becuase of x,y, z. Let the AI know the reasons in detail and ask it to try again.

Hope these tips help you all.
