Unable to submit support ticket and Firebase App Distribution AAB install redirects to Google Play “Item not found”

When trying to submit a support ticket Im receiving an error

”Error submitting request. Please try again later.” Tried with incognito as well but issue persist.

Anyway

After switching our Firebase App Distribution builds from APK to AAB, installing the build now redirects to Google Play, where it shows the error:

“Item not found.”

Internal testing is enabled, and tester accounts are correctly added, but the issue persists.

One of our apps installs correctly through the same process, but the others fail. The only noticeable difference we found is in Internal App Sharing → Manage testers:

  • Working app: no restriction selected

  • Affected apps: “Restrict access to email lists” enabled (tester emails are added correctly)

We also tested other configuration options there, but the problem remains.

Additional details:

  • All apps have been in production for a long time.

  • Certificates are correctly configured.

  • The problem started only after switching from APK to AAB.

  • When installing from Firebase App Distribution, the flow redirects to Google Play for installation.

  • The affected apps already exist in production, but the Play Store link still returns “Item not found.”

It seems like Firebase might not be linking the AAB build to the correct Play Store listing, but we are not sure.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue when migrating from APK to AAB in Firebase App Distribution?

Any suggestions on what configuration might be missing between Firebase App Distribution and Google Play Internal Testing/Internal App Sharing?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, which support form were you getting the error from? Was it the Firebase Support form? Contact Support  |  Firebase

I’d like to ensure it is fixed if there is an issue and the Support team is the right place to get this addressed.

kind regards

Rich
