Lately I’ve been seeing the prototyper do this:
It will auto-fix errors up to 4 times, then stop.
This process can take up to ten minutes or longer.
If I respond, it will abort the operation and then I lose all progress.
I have to wait for it to make a simple change, “Fix it” 4 times, then complete.
It would be helpful if there was an option to “stop” the prototyper while retaining changes.
This would likely be in response to clicking the stop button, allowing the user to choose to retain changes or revert changes.
As an aside, the stop button is not responsive. Stop actions should happen immediately. Gemini can take tens of seconds to respond. This is not a good user experience. There should be a responsive user feedback element when the stop button is used with the prototyper. Allowing it to continue after a user clicks stop makes them feel like they are not in control.
I would like to see a time elapsed counter for every action the Prototyper takes.
- It would help aid troubleshooting efforts when something takes too long
- Users could have a reasonable threshold for stopping the prototyper
- Allowing devs to validate performance issues by quantifying the time delay
Having a rolling timer per action would help demonstrate the poor user experience when this occurs by adding more context to the screenshot.
