Hello! Oh, that sounds incredibly frustrating. :sad_but_relieved_face: That’s a classic sign that your workspace is in a “stuck state.”

It means the UI is loading, but the AI agent in the background isn’t properly connecting or responding to your messages. You’re right, it’s not “hearing” you.

You’ve already tried logging in and out, which is a good first step. Here are the next three solutions, from most likely to least likely, to get you unblocked.

1. “Hard Restart” the Workspace (Most Likely Fix)

This is the most powerful solution and fixes 99% of “stuck” issues. It’s more than just reloading the browser; it completely reboots the underlying cloud VM that your workspace is running on.

  1. Press Cmd+Shift+P (on Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+P (on Windows/Linux) to open the command palette.

  2. Type in Firebase Studio: Hard Restart.

  3. Select that option and press Enter.

This will take a minute or two, but it clears all stuck processes. After it reloads, try saying “hello” again.

2. Clear the AI’s Memory with /clear

If a hard restart doesn’t work, the AI’s chat memory (its context) might be corrupted. You can force it to reset.

  1. In the chat box where you’re stuck, just type:

    /clear

  2. Press Enter. This will wipe the chat history and start a fresh, clean session.

3. Try an Incognito Window

It’s possible your browser’s local cache is the problem.

  1. Open a New Incognito (or Private) window in your browser.

  2. Log in to Firebase Studio and open your project.

If it works in Incognito, the problem is your main browser’s cache. You’ll need to go into your browser’s settings and clear the cache and cookies for the Firebase Studio site.
