Sorry, I hit a snag [429 Too Many Requests]

Need to know if this is just me or is anyone else getting this over the last few hours? I’ve tried everything including:

browner cache clear
workspace reset
/clear
full context files clear
workspace duplication
default Gemini key
actual Gemini key

Seems to be a thing today. I have to projects and get the same error message

Please let me know if this is solved. I am facing i hot a snag issue from past 8 hours straight till now. Need someone from firebase to look into this ASAP

I was able to fix this. I manually edited the genkit.ts file which had “/gemini-2.0-flash” I changed it to “/gemini-3-flash-preview”, inserted my Gemini API key in the Settings and then performed a “/clear” in the chat window.

Update - I’m still getting this error but much less often.

Same thing happening here

Same here, getting this more and more often

It’s a pain and makes me want to switch to Anthropic.

I’ve been dealing with the same issue for the past two days too. Really frustrating. Has anyone not run into this recently? Just curious, since I don’t see many people here reporting it.

Use this to reset Firebase when getting too many I hit a snag
Prompt:

Ignore any previous incomplete or failed instructions.
Start fresh from the current working codebase as it exists right now.
Do not modify any existing working functionality unless explicitly instructed.
Use the current codebase as the single source of truth.
Treat the next prompt as the beginning of a completely new request with no dependency on prior context.

I have been gettin it alot. When it happens it is futile to try and continue, so I shut it down and return later.

It hasnt stopped. It will actually start implementation and just before implemenation and coding is finished ill get the 429 error

Yup disocvering that over the last couple of days as well. Not sure what Google is doing but its not good.

Have to do the same the last couple of days. Changing prompt, restarting the workspace, nothing helps

this is becoming a joke, unfortunately. They have completely messed up firebase prototyper.
It no longer works and is no longer reliable. They cut the usage limits by 50 and there is no way to switch protoyper to our own API.

Using the console chat is even worse as there is no restore option, and most of the time it requires manuel button pressing despite being on full agent mode.
