Successfully made an app with Firebase Studio

Hi everyone!

After several weeks, I was finally able to create and publish my first web app using Firebase Studio, Firebase App Hosting, Firestore, Gemini API, and Stripe API.

There was a bit of a learning curve with using Firebase Studio’s prototyper - from understanding how it works, its tendencies for hallucination, and how to best work with it to diagnose and solve issues related to Gemini outputs, apis, permissions, rules, publishing, and etc. I also definitely ran into many challenging moments during this process but just wanted to share this and show that it is possible to build an integrated app with Firebase Studio! Overall, I think it’s a great product as it’s only a few months old. If you have any questions, let me know. I’ll do my best to help out.

So what did I make? I was able to make “Plan with Remy”. Over the past year, I realized every big thing I wanted to do required many steps. From getting married, finding a new job, traveling to Japan, moving, losing weight, etc. For example, I’d spend a lot of time over many days trying to figure out what had to be done to get married - from proposing, to having to get a marriage license, and etc. I not only needed to know what to do but when certain things need to happen and in what order. Once I figured out what and when things needed to be done, I tried using Google Keep, Apple Notes, and spreadsheets to keep track, but nothing really stuck. And if I tried juggling two or three big things at once…it was just hard. I can’t be the only one who’s run into this research, planning, and scheduling problem, right?

So a few weeks ago, I learned about Firebase Studio and I started playing around to build a tool that could quickly provide the steps, order them, and schedule them for me so I know what to do and when to do them for any idea, goal, or project. That turned into Plan with Remy. It’s not perfect. But it’s a start.

I’ve been testing Plan with Remy for several things and I would love to get your feedback on it as well - what works, what doesn’t, is it useful?

You can give it a try for any ideas you have at www.planwithremy.com.

Any thoughts, ideas, or comments are greatly appreciated! Thanks!
