My Firebase Studio preview window is in a broken state.
The Runtime Error I Chased
Fact
I lost twelve hours of coding today chasing a phantom bug.
Opinion
I should be getting paid to use Firebase Studio for the amount of troubleshooting I go through.
Proof of Known Issue
I’m not the only one having this issue.
And its been around for some time.
Failed Solution
I manually removed all *.cloudworkstations.dev service workers–no change.
I also cleared all site data and cookies and this error persists. I’m not sure what other cache I can clear besides using Incognito mode which works.
Unfavorable Workaround
But when I made my app public and opened it from an incognito browser, it worked fine.
I’ve come to realize this may not be a Firebase issue and I have misplaced my attention on this community forum. However, I will leave this post here if anyone else comes across this issue and needs a solution.

I appreciate you realizing that it was misplaced attention; seems like it might have overall been a good learning experience, albiet very frustrating, and I can definetely empathize; totally been there. But it seems like you must be liking firebase Studio well enough that you were willing to stick around 12 hours to troubleshoot. I know for me personally when I’ve run into issues and feel like I’ve gone in circles … after circle … its still worth it for what i’m getting out of it.
Also, I really appreciate seeing how you laid out the content and used the collapse; I know the onboarding went over them, but I kind of forgot until seeing this message, nice reminder and effective use.
Curious if you’re like me and kind of hit the “fix issue” button until it eventually works?

Hey Alyssa,
It certainly was a good learning experience.
And while I was frustrated in the process, I remind myself this is what growth feels like.
Because when I finally do discover the solution, I know it’s a problem I won’t have to experience again, because I understand it so thoroughly and have it documented for future reference.
I have been down many rabbit holes and danced in a circle with the AI countless times. Asking it to create and append documentation with every step has helped identify the previous paths we’ve walked.
Firebase Studio is where I have planted my flag for development after having used Replit for over 300 hours. It has a better UI, but the pricing model was a deal breaker and the AI is not as capable as Gemini, and there is no ability to change the model.
I have been guilty of pushing the ‘fix it’ button a copious amount of times, which often has mixed results.
Ya, I was using a Visual Development tool, Plasmic, prior to coming here. And I might hop over to it from time to time; or have piece of a flow where it might fit in. But I too, am planting my flag in with Firebase Studio now. The fact that it has the AI model, easily helps you build AI into the apps your developing with Genkit, and has all the features that you need when developing an app with the rest of the Firebase apps, plus the underling IaaS as well all in the same ecosystem. Plus I like what can be done with the Assured Workloads and coming to GCP has always by my end game when building an app. It was fun playing with the open source clones and all that and so glad they exist, but it is also really nice to be on a system that you feel has that enterprise engineering and power underneath it for security, support and community that it brings in.
My next step once I get things in a more stable with the steam I’m able to give it, is to take advantage of all the training that is out there and really know things from a trainer’s perspective and walk through exercises.
