Firebase Studio Sunset

A sad moment, i wish firebase studio ide online still available for users who do not have proper storge in pc with 512 GB or below SSD drive. even antigravity is good for offline users with laptop more then 1 TB storage and firebase studio ide for online users had some facilities to easy access. It was wonderful app.:slightly_smiling_face:

i definately will missed the super speed firabase studio terminal.
this gives me no choice but to transition back to the github codespace.

Does Google AI studio has IDE experience like Antigravity in Cloud? As I want to do things on cloud.

I never developed anything outside firebase, as I really like this all-in solution and I managed to create some neat little apps.

I have struggled, however, to intergrate other apps through their API. So, should I start using antrigravity? Does it offer the same level of access to my firestore, auth setup etc, all from the existing dashboards?

Same for me! Cloud function and unlimted prompts are amazing for me. Ive tried Replit and Antigravity and u run out of qouta after 20mins and cant access quickly again.

Is it also cloud based with unlimited prompts?

What about my premium status?

Using opencode in antigravity is cool

Thank you for all your efforts! This has been a great journey and wonderful experience for me and few other people I shared this with. The possibility to bring ideas to life is simply amazing!

Now I will be moving away from Google AI due to recent changes in the plans and quotas. With my AI Pro plans I got locked out by Antigravity for DAYS - well… Let’s just say that with such often and so long break the Vibe and Flow are just gone.

Once again I’d like to appreciate what you’ve built and I hope to be a part of the future shaped by Google!

Thanks!

Any news available, when we can move our firebase studio project with a few clicks to Google AI Studio?:folded_hands:t2:

Looking sooooooo forward to your answer.:folded_hands:t2:

Greetings from Germany

Jul3s

I honestly don’t like this direction. Firebase Studio Web IDE is a huge game changer, it makes building and deploying mobile and web apps much faster compared to using locally installed IDEs. Google AI Studio feels more suited for simple, vibe-based coding and lacks deeper, more advanced features. Anti Gravity requires installing apps and managing local files, which is exactly what I’m trying to avoid. Please don’t shut down Firebase Studio Web IDE, it’s been incredibly helpful for me.

While I understand the push toward streamlining into Google AI Studio and Antigravity, I really hope the team considers maintaining Firebase Studio as a middle-ground ‘Cloud IDE’ option.

Firebase Studio fills a critical gap that the other two don’t currently cover:

  • True Cloud-Native Mobile Dev: Unlike Antigravity, which is moving toward local-first/Nix-based workflows, Firebase Studio allowed those of us on low-spec hardware or tablets to run full Android/iOS emulators in the browser.
  • The ‘Prototyper’ Precision: The ability to click a UI element and ask for an isolated change is a surgical AI interaction that feels much more efficient than re-prompting an entire app state in AI Studio.
  • Zero-Setup Accessibility: For students and educators, the ‘one-click to code’ environment of the Studio is a massive low-friction entry point that Antigravity’s local installation requirements simply don’t match.

Instead of a full sunset, could we see a ‘Firebase Studio Mode’ integrated into AI Studio? Keeping the ephemeral, browser-based VM with the emulator support would ensure that developers without high-end local machines aren’t left behind in this transition.

Thank you.

Can Ai Studio or Antigravity provision a new Firebase project when prototyping a new app, which is a key component of Google Cloud, when setting up services? Similar to Firebase Studio?

No. This is bad news. I’ve thought about this all day.

Firebase Studio has really been a great tool for my work. Managed to develop flutter mobile applications very quickly.

Its ‘Cloud’ functions have been of great help and thanks to its different templates: Flutter, Node.js, Laravel…

Please could you re-evaluate the decision?

Is there any confirmation that AI Studio will incorporate Firebases Enterprise collaborativity in future updates, I am currently building Projects with a team and some of the members have Hardware limitations. The WEB based IDE and Prototyping collaboration really helped My team work on the same projects together without having to worry about costly Hardware limitations.

After receiving the News of Firebase studio Sunsetting I tested out the suggested AI Studio, and Quite frankly I feel like Firebase Studio was a lot more User friendly as well as easier to understand and collaborative with other team members alongside AI tools.

I am still needing to test to Test the AI studios Remix Functionalities fully. However from my first glance understanding this is still like a One Dev AI model interaction because even sharing a project only allows viewer permissions to the other users.

After trying to share a test project to another user in my organization, the project didn’t even appear in their Your Apps section, I still had to manually share the link and when I did The 2nd user had to Remix the project which essentially re-creates the first project, as their own.

I really do Hope that there will at least be major updates to come to the two substitution Paths or That there is a reconceptualization on the Future of Firebase Studio and the choice of having it sunsetted

My honest opinion as a Developer. Sunsetting FireBase studio which showed so much potential, especially for Collaboration and its hybrid approach to IDE view and an AI-agent view. Is a Step Backwards if the alternatives IDE’s local or web based cant allow multiple developers and AI / AI agents to work in the Same collaborative Space

Hello Firebase team,

I want to express my concern and sincerely ask you to reconsider the decision to shut down Firebase Studio.

For many of us, it’s not just another tool — it’s a core part of our development workflow. It enabled us to prototype quickly, iterate fast, and build real products in an accessible way, combining backend, frontend, and logic in a single environment. In my case, it has been essential to move projects close to MVP with real potential.

The value of Firebase Studio is not only technical, but conceptual: it empowers a new generation of builders who think in terms of product, speed, and AI-assisted development.

Migrating is not just “moving code.” It means breaking workflows, losing context, rethinking architecture, and taking on time and financial costs that many early-stage projects simply can’t afford.

That’s why I kindly ask you to reconsider this decision, or at least explore alternatives:

  • Maintain a limited but functional version

  • Extend the transition timeline

  • Provide truly seamless and complete migration tools

Firebase Studio has a community that actively uses it, values it, and builds on top of it every day. I hope you can take this feedback into account.

Thank you for everything you’ve built — and I truly hope this isn’t the end.

Firebase Studio (IDX) is superior to both alternatives.

Firebase Studio is easier, and it is both at the same time. What I like about Firebease Studio is that it was accessible everywhere.

Agrred man this is not worth it any more. I have had multiple prompst stop dead in its track and the intruction is nothing more than 10 words

my sentiments and outlook is exactly the same. GAIS is not working for me. It’s lame compared to FBS.

And now what they are doing is to increase to cost of using Studio so much that its now extremely expenvsive to do any code and i cant recall Google informing is of these ballooning payment cost. I just deleted all my studio projects and are now using antigravity and codex in combination. Iits easy to rack up a $200 account in 10 minutes
