Gemini API "Retries Failed"

Can’t get a Gemini API key working - tested the key using CURL and was able to get a response. If I use the same key in Firebase Studio, I just get a “Retries Failed” error. I’m able to use the built-in model fine. Any thoughts here?

Getting the same errors, no matter what instance I am using (one old, one created today). API keys are not an issue.

Same issues. Have been like this for more than 3 hours

thank god im not the only one

when i try to prompt gemini 2.5 pro or any other gemini that relies on an API key i get this error “Retries failed.”
Here is a list of things I’ve tried to do to solve this problem: Use a different api key, use a different api key from another gmail account, start a new gemini chat, use a different gemini model, /clear the prototyper, checked my billing & usage, tried testing it on a different project, rolling back code, reset my VM, tried incognito mode, tried to use the firebase.studio app on my desktop & chrome, checked my pop ups, and checked the console for errors.

This all started happening around 1:00PM june 2nd.

we’re in this together.

I was working fine until about 08:30 GMT and then I am now getting non stop “Retries Failed”. I’ll keep trying every hour or so assuming maybe some backend issue? The console shows the attached.

I’m facing the same issue since around 7:00 PM GMT. Gemini 2.5 pro and flash are not replying, “Retries failed.” everytime, except if I start the prompt with /ask command, that I assume turns off the agent mode and only allows the AI to chat but not interact.

FYI I’ve just tried it again and it seems to be back online
