I migrated my app from Firebase Studio to Google AI Studio because I need cloud facility.
I have found the following differences that are disadvantageous versus Firebase Studio:
I could prompt code all day long on FBS without running out of quota. On GAIS it runs out of quota after one prompt or even just loading up the app! On API keys its very costly.
I am told on Gemini 1.5 this wont happen but I cant switch to 1.5. Only options are Gemini 3 in various formats.
Building takes ages versus FBS. This is a waste of time.
Does anyone think this will improve? For now I will carry on until March 2027 I guess.
Sadly, I don’t think it will change much - these new pricing strategies in AI Studio are here to stay. We’ve all benefitted from being the guinea pigs for Firebase Studio, which has helped AI Studio become what it is today. The silver lining is as you said, we can continue to build/finish our apps in Firebase at low cost, there is no good reason to migrate early.
No it wont improve. Ive moved to vercel. You have a free tier to test and develop, just how it used to be in FS so shutting down my remaining project and then done with google
It is their own custom agent, I pay $20 for the monthly subscription which includes a certain amount of credits. After that you pay for the coding until the next month.
I migrated to AI Studio and after loading my app it told me I was out of free generations for the day. Needless to say I deleted the AI Studio build and went back to coding in FBS. I am sure in 11 months I have left I will figure something out but in the mean time it’s FBS till they hit the switch
