Are constant workspace disconnections / crashes normal?

I get constant disconnections from firebase studio workspace requiring a reload and/or reset the VM - maybe 20-30 per day! It is making the development process VERY slow. The web console / preview can also just crash randomly even when not being used. I am using claude code extension exclusively, within firebase studio and am using the desktop client. I do not use the native chat, prototyper or gemini (though have provided my keys) I have a very solid wired 500MBps internet connection.

I have a feeling it is getting more frequent as my app gets bigger, but that might just coincide with more load on the platform generally.

Do you have similar or better experiences? Any tips?

thanks

If you haven’t done so recently, try clearing you chat context with /clear. Over time, the chat accumulates a lot of context that can–in my experience–bog things down. The downside is the chat loses its memory and you’ll have to offer more guidance for awhile while it comes back up to speed.

Chat /clear already. Still gets disconnected and always gets prompted to login.

Are you talking about clear chat in Gemini? I am not using that. How would Claude cause Firebase studio to become unresponsive?

FIXED!. OMG…. All it was, was removing turbopack! This consumes VM memory. In terminal, I ran free -h and could see I was running out of Memory.

Great catch, and thanks for sharing!

Things are better but certainly not great. The VM is totally under resourced for my project. I can only have one browser tab of the web preview open at any time. More seem to cause it to crash. And lack of turbo pack makes things very very slow.
