Let’s stop pretending this is normal.
I paid €270 for Firebase Studio (PRO plan) and what I got in return was complete abandonment.
The last update was over 4 months ago.
Since then:
-
zero updates
-
zero fixes
-
zero roadmap
-
zero communication
-
zero replies from the developers, even when directly tagged
Total silence.
This is not “slow development”.
This is not a “transition phase”.
This is taking people’s money and completely ghosting them.
And somehow, every time someone points this out on this forum, there’s always someone doing free PR damage control with:
“They’ll improve”
“Just wait”
Wait for what, exactly?
Wait indefinitely after paying real money?
This is no longer just incompetence — it is a violation of EU law
For anyone still pretending this is just an opinion, here’s the legal reality:
Directive (EU) 2019/770 — Digital Content and Digital Services
A paid digital service must be kept in conformity, including updates and continued functionality.
Paid product + abandonment + silence = non-conformity.
Selling a product as active and supported, then abandoning it without notice, qualifies as a misleading commercial practice by omission.
Consumers have the right to clear, transparent and up-to-date information.
Here, there is none — just silence and disregard.
This is already a legal issue, whether people like it or not.
To PRO users: stop accepting this
If you also paid for the PRO plan and are staying quiet:

you are enabling this behavior

you are telling them it’s fine to charge and disappear
It is not fine.
I strongly encourage all paying PRO users to:

file a formal complaint at EU level (European Consumer Centre / national consumer authority)

document everything: payment, last update dates, lack of communication

publicly pressure the developers, here and elsewhere

demand clear answers, not vague promises
One complaint can be ignored.
Multiple formal EU complaints cannot.
To the developers responsible (if you’re still around)
Either:

admit the project is dead
-
officially communicate a pause
-
or show real signs of active development
What you don’t get to do is:

charge €270
-
disappear for months
-
ignore paying users
-
and expect the community to cope forever
That has a name: negligence and disrespect.
I am preparing a formal complaint at the European Union level, fully documented.
If this continues to be ignored, the next step will not be a forum post.
And let me be very clear:
the more PRO users who do the same, the worse this becomes for you.
Silence is not a strategy.
Silence is abandonment.
And abandoning a paid product has consequences.
